Support for End of Life Care and Medical Aid in Dying
____________________________________________________________________
About myself:
I have been working in Hospice and Home Health Care for over 16 years. When California passed the Death with Dignity Law in 2016, I began providing education and support for those who are interested in utilizing this law if they are diagnosed with a terminal illness. Since I graduated as an RN 1996, I’ve had a broad range of experience but my passion has always been geriatric and end of life care.
About my services:
Working with Primary Care Partners in SLO and other prescribing physician offices, I am able to provide a professional nursing presence for you and your loved ones before and during the Medical Aid in Dying experience.
What my services include:
An initial visit to review your situation, concerns and plans.
Information about what you can expect with a typical “aid in dying” death and addressing your concerns and questions
Phone calls as needed to collaborate with you or your loved ones, the doctor, pharmacist or Hospice team between the initial appointment and the date of death.
If appropriate, I can provide in-person care during the Medical Aid in Dying day which could include mixing the medications, assistance with G tube or rectal administration, presence during self-ingestion, and continued support to your last breath as needed.
Unfortunately, these services are not yet covered by Medicare or Insurance and each patient must pay for the service in addition to the doctor visits and the medication. I charge a flat rate of $600.00 for each patient. I do not charge based on time spent as each experience is different.
Please contact me directly for an introductory phone call to discuss how I may be of help to you. If cost is a barrier for you, please discuss this with me during the initial phone call.
